Benjamín together with his brothers Manuel and Adolfo, owners of Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas have achieved to place their wines at the top over the last 27 years since the winery was founded in 1980. Their success on international markets ( the winery exports 40% of its total out-put) has meant a very high position on the ranking and a consolidation very difficult to imagine when this familiar and pioneer winery in Ribera del Duero started exporting its wine. In 1996, Benjamín Pérez Pascuas received a prize as the best viticultor in Spain. Considered as a viticultor master, he knows very well soils, varieties, clones, pruninig, trellising, rootstocks, vine spacing, row orientation and so on. He defends Tempranillo variety of grape against the others varieties of grapes grown all over the world. " I like teaching everybody, many oenologist and agronomist engineer have visited the winery and I have enjoyed showing them how to treat the vines and sharing with them my experiences" Benjamín said to the journalist. Bejamín, 76 years old, respected and dear viticultor says: " If God gives me health, I will continue working on vines. I drink wine everyday and I am completely sure that if you drink with moderation, this is good for your heath. My father, Mauro Pérez, always told me that" Benjamín states in a very friendly and close chat with the media. Bejamín was very happy to receive this prize and said:" The viticulture I practise on our 120 hectares of own vineyards I think is unbeatable. When you are working amongst vine the experience and intuition both of them play a very important role. You have to keep under control the prduction on the parcels, this is one of the secrets to get a successful wine as Viña Pedrosa. A very old vine gives top quality grapes, they have a unique personality, that is why they are used to make Pérez Pascuas Gran Selección." Benjamín concluded being congratulated by the media and wine professionals from different parts of the globe. |
