Piooners in Ribera del Duero, Pérez Pascuas Brothers shared their history, their wines and their premises with more than 20 students from Pablo Picasso Spanish Studies Centre from Tallin (Estonia). Amongst the activities scheduled by La Fundación Instituto Castellano y Leonés de la Lengua to spread Spanish language in Baltic Republics, Carmen González travelled with the students from Estonia to Pedrosa de Duero for a wine tour and tasting at Pérez Pascuas Brothers winery to know which role was played by Pérez Pascuas Brothers to achieve the appellation Ribera del Duero D.O in 1982 and how they helped to develop Ribera del Duero region. Many were the questions asked by the students from Estonia concerned with vinification and barrel ageing, but the most repeated one was which places in Estonia they could find Cepa Gavilán Wine, Viña Pedrosa Wine, Finca La Navilla Wine and Pérez Pascuas Gran Selección Wine. Many of them complained about some problems they have to face in their country when they want to buy top quality wine from Ribera del Duero: Just a few wine shops and a very narrow wine range. A part from very expensive prices due to government taxes. Adolfo and Benjamín Pérez Pascuas were positively surprised by the huge interest showed by the group, both of them describe the experience as an enriching experience. According to Adolfo s comments it was a very valuable first contact with Estonian culture, pretty interesting to know what the Ribera del Duero image is in Estonia. With many bottles of Viña Pedrosa wines in the suitcase and so many pictures as memories, Estonian students said goodbye to Pérez Pascuas Brothers hoping to see them soon in the Estonian capital. |
